The Ellison Lab is pleased to share the results of the hemp (CBD and CBG) variety trials conducted over the 2021-2023 growing seasons. Please take a look at the 2023 Cultivar Check Program Report!
Established via a Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) Partnership Grant in 2021, the Cultivar Check Program operates as a series of participatory on-farm trials using an extensive grower-cooperator network across the Midwest. The main objective of these cultivar trials was to obtain data on how high cannabinoid hemp cultivars perform in different Midwestern locations.
Over three years, The Cultivar Check Program has evaluated 38 cultivars with the assistance from over 30 grower cooperators across 4 states (Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana, and Illinois). This project will continue in 2024 with continued funding support from the SARE Partnership Grant.
Interested growers are encouraged to apply here by March 31st, 2024. Participating growers will be responsible for submitting various management, performance and economic data via an online survey using the SeedLinked® platform in addition to submitting samples for cannabinoid analysis. Seed, cannabinoid testing, and shipping costs are all covered as part of the program.
