Grace Connelly

Education: Grace obtained her bachelor’s of science from Pacific University where she studied Environmental Biology and Philosophy.

Research Goals/Priorities: Grace was born and raised in Oregon, where she developed a deep love and passion for the environment. She will graduate in Summer 2023 with her master’s in Agroecology and will continue with the Ellison lab to obtain a PhD in Environment and Resources. She has spent the past four summers growing hemp and has been intrigued by the crop since it was legalized in 2018. Her research has focused on the effect of intercropping in hemp, looking at weed and pest management, economic impacts, and plant and soil health, as well as collaborating with growers across the Midwest on varieties and best practices.

Fun Fact: In her free time Grace loves creating things; she has knitted and crocheted many sweaters and blankets to survive the Midwest winters.
